Getting away and new fabric
Last weekend I was able to get away and go spend the weekend with one of my good friends. We hung out Friday night and talked until 4am and then went to a Trace Adkins concert together then hung out and talked some more until 2am at her house. Really enjoyed spending time with her. We hadn't hung out together for several years and it was nice to catch up.
Then this Thur. I had a quilt getaway with some of my quilt ladies. We had some show and tells. We tried out a log cabin block ruler which I found very neat and want one now. And we went to the quilt store where I picked up several batik fat quarters and two yards of fabric to go with my hexie quilt. So excited to use them.
Then when I got home I had squishy mail waiting for me. I received my Pink Castle stash club bundle of greens...some super cute stuff this time and lots of pretty bright greens. I also received from Intrepid Thread some fat quarters and 1/2 yard pieces of these lovelies (picture below). Thinking a really cute looking retro quilt for myself is in order....can't wait. Just don't know what pattern I want to use. Any thoughts??? Right now all that comes to mind is a disappearing nine patch using some solids as the center piece that gets cut smaller.

Actual Sewing
Well....we had 5 snow days from the school where I work last week. I spent the majority of my time working on my college classes but I took two full days to just sew. Here's what I got accomplished.
I have been working on a Christian Cross quilt for my step sister that I wanted to use my twister template for the first time. I have to say that this process was very tedious and I am not sure I will do this again very soon. But here's a look.....currently it is sitting as a sandwich, pinned and ready to quilt.
the quilt laid out in blocks before I started sewing it together.

here's the quilt getting cut up with the twister template
laying out the blocks after being twisted and sewn together....see the pink numbered tabs to keep the strip sets in order...lol
here's more twisted strips
flimsy top....minus borders hanging up for a good look
borders and backing picked out
pinned and ready to sew.
I also got a chance to work on my scrappy log cabin quilt. We cut the strips at a log cabin using the Go! cutting system. There were 7 of us from our quilt guild that showed up ready to cut strips and take home enough strips to make 12 blocks with for ourselves after we got home. It was a lot of fun!! Here is my quilt.
here are the blocks after I made them....laying them out so the colors look good and I make sure the pattern is set up correctly.
the plaid is what I have picked for the borders and backing. I think I will do the binding in black or tan.....still deciding. I love this quilt so far which surprises me because I am really not a fan of the scrappy look....but this is turning out super cute!!!
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are doing well and here's looking toward spring!!!
