"Order! Order in the sewing room!!!"

Yes, my sewing room is back in order.  It was a bit of a mess after moving one sewing table out and moving another in.  I also received a lot of sewing items I can't or won't use, so I needed to go through all of it as well and organize what I wanted to keep and want I needed to get rid of.  I am not a hoarder so had no problems throwing things away that I knew I wouldn't or couldn't possibly use.  To bad there wasn't any quilting fabric in the mix....oh well.  lol

Happy Friday to you all....hope you have a great weekend!!!

New (to me) Sewing Machine

Today while I was eagerly awaiting my new (to me) sewing machine, I started working on my step dads quilt which will be my first applique attempt.  It's a small lap quilt or wall hanging and I'm excited to give it a shot.  So here are some snap shots of the beginning process.
It's a quilt called "Sporting to the Rally".  It depicts a motorcycle rider on a sporty harley heading to a motorcycle rally.  I love the materials that are used in the kit.
Here is the cut out pattern pieces before I traced them onto the heat and bond.
The pattern is now on the heat and bond paper, ready to be ironed to the material.
On the orange card you can see a picture of the finished project that was sent along with the kit.  I think it is a pretty quilt.  I am sure my dad will love it.

Then, about 7:30 pm this evening my husband showed up with the sewing machine which was given to me by his great aunt.  It's a 600E series Singer.  Here's a picture of it.  I'm a little nervous to try it out.  So much different then my old cheap machine I got 20 years ago at walmart.  But will try to overcome my fears and forge ahead.   *smile*

New quilt shop

I was visiting my brother out of town and we decided to go walk his downtown mainstreet.  I was excited to see a quilt shop and immediately went in.  I have to say I was a little disappointed with their selection and a lot disappointed with the fact that their fat quarters were not visibly priced.  I am one of those people that won't buy something for the most part if I can't see how much it is and I don't like to ask.  So needless to say, I left the shop without purchasing anything.  I was really hoping to pick up a couple fall color fat quarters...oh well.

Sewing machine update

So, thought I would post a little update on the lack of sewing machine issue.  I still have not yet decided what I want to buy, but luck has came my way regardless.  My husbands great-aunt is giving me hers.  I don't know how old it is or what kind it is, but I am almost positive it is in very good shape and of nice quality!  I'm excited.  Not sure how well it will machine quilt so will see when I get it.  I still have plans to buy a new machine but until I do I hope this one works well for me.  I will be getting it this weekend!!

nice finds....

My family and I went walking up and down our main street downtown, enjoying the misting weather and stopping in at the various consignment stores our town has to offer.
I had to post some of the fabrics I found, was surprised by the decent selection since normally I wouldn't find anything of use.

*sigh*

Well, I thought I would update on the sewing machine issue.  I am still deciding what I want to buy and weighing my options.  Going to see if I can borrow one until I can make up my mind.  I certainly don't want to buy one that I don't like.

Tomorrow Tomorrow....

Tomorrow, Tomorrow, the sun will come out tomorrow!!!!  Even though it's going to be cool and possibly rainy here in actual weather, it will be full of sun for me because I will be ordering my new sewing machine.  CAN'T WAIT!!!   My fingers have been itching to get back to work.

Sad!

Well......sure would be a nice weekend to do some quilting.  If only I had a machine.  Been a little sad since my old one broke.  Placing an order for my new one this week....it will sure be a long wait after I do until it gets here.  (You know how it is when you are anticipating something).
On a brighter note....IT'S FRIDAY!!!!  Can't beat that if I say so myself.  I plan on organizing my office/sewing room and trying to get my daughter to clean her room...she's 7yrs old so that means I have to do a lot of the cleaning myself because she gets distracted by her toys and not much gets cleaned.  lol
Well....Happy Friday everyone and Happy Sewing.  I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

Missing!!!

I was doing the September Fabshop Hop, looking for the elusive bunny on all the online fabric store sites.....and well, I found them all.  HOWEVER, I am missing one of the PDF files for the Chocolate Blocks.  I read on the emails that you could get any missing pdf files in the member area but alas, I can not find the pdf files anywhere.  All I can find is a pdf for the whole quilt listing the fabric needed to make it.
Anyone have any information???   The missing pdf is for the turtle block.  If you have it, I would love to get it from you.
Thanks for reading and happy September hopping!!!!

Happy Labor Day

Happy labor day to you all and happy September.
Well....as some of you know I have a dead sewing machine at the moment.  Hubby has promised to buy me a new one this month for my birthday.  (Isn't he wonderful!!)
I will post pics when I get it.  Until then I will leave you with some wonderful pictures I found scattered about the internet.
